The Cavalier High School winner of the Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest is Colby Smith. The competition, presented in partnership with the North Dakota Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. On January 22, nine high school students from Cavalier participated in the Poetry Out Loud school contest. Read the rest of the story and watch Colby's performance.

The 6th graders have been busy learning about ancient civilizations and how they have contributed to the American culture. They found similarities between building styles, government, and ways of decorating. Mosaics have been recovered in ruins all over Europe, so the students took a shot at planning, designing, and creating their own masterpieces. Check out the rest of the story along with some pictures.
